Criminal Paralegal, Full time, Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm

Our client specialise in the most serious and high-profile Criminal cases, it is imperative that you have prior experience working within the Criminal law sector.

Our Client is looking for a paralegal who is organised and focused on the details. The ideal applicant would be well-versed in legal procedures and evidence of good communication skills. In addition to organising case files and documents, this position entails supporting solicitors get ready for hearings, trials, and meetings. The successful candidates will have exceptional time management skills and be knowledgeable with a variety of office programs.

There will also be progression onto a Police Accreditation course paid by the employer.

Duties

  • Compile pertinent data and do legal research to bolster arguments.

  • Write legal documents, such as pleadings, contracts, and letters.

  • Arrange and keep case files, making sure all paperwork is correct and current.

  • Communicate with witnesses, clients and other parties in legal proceedings

  • Use Outlook to arrange court dates, meetings and deadlines

  • Create documents and manage data using word and Excel

  • Work together with solicitors and the team to create case plans and offer administrative assistance.

  • The successful candidate will undertake a varied workload including attending clients to take instructions, providing representations at police stations (once accredited) both in and out of office hours, file management and progressing cases up to trial.

Requirements

  • Excellent organisational abilities and the capacity to oversee several projects at once.

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) proficiency is required.

  • Law Degree

  • Strong time management abilities to efficiently fulfil deadlines.

  • Excellent English communication, both written and spoken.

  • The capacity to operate both individually and collaboratively in a hectic setting.

  • Proficiency using case management systems – Proclaim

  • The company work in an extremely fast-paced, high-pressure atmosphere as such it is critical that the successful applicant is able to prioritise tasks, and stay on top of and throughout the day.

  • The company is committed to training and development and has a dedicated Training Officer who executes interactive training strategies from the start. In addition to face-to-face training and feedback sessions, the company host frequent team and firm meetings where new procedures are reviewed among colleagues with varying levels of experience, ensuring that no member of the team is ever without support. You will also be assigned a 'buddy' to assist you with any questions you may have regarding training.

Pay: £21,500 per annum
